You know, When I was younger I thought cryptids were monsters and I was afraid of them. Now if they take over MY world, I'd be excited and flattered.
I heard about the picture books too... I'm super excited. =D
Too bad the apparel line will be all kids stuff, but man... I can't wait.
I'm excited about the DVD, and am looking forward to future volumes.
I'm not sure if I want to get The King of Kumari Kandam book or not.
Cool news but umm....wth?
"THE SECRET SATURDAYS Fire Sword -- Watch out Argost! With this role play item, kids can get in on the action and play as Zak Saturday"
I guess they wouldn't sell as many if they said play as Drew Saturday?
=)
Yay, I can't wait for the stuff to start hitting shelves.
What's that about a black and white manga-inspired graphic novel, though? You mean like a real SS manga of sorts? Not just screen images from the cartoon? That's interesting me now too, even though it says Fall 2010...
I also kinda wonder how large any of the boys line of apparel will get. ;) I actually used to buy and wear young boys clothes. lol I'm not as small as I was back in high school, but I did get a few larger size boys tees back in 2006 and they still fit me as kind of small to medium women's sized shirts. Ha, the benefits of having a small child-like stature.
(If I can get away with it...I hope there'll be some shirts with Argost or something. lol)
I guess this marks the end of my son spending his allowance on STAR WARS action figures.
Maybe for me too.
I have quite a bit of money saved up for future SS DVDs (assuming there will be any.)
Hopefully I'll have enough room for them!
I'm a little surprised CN isn't showing SS that much recently except during the weekend.
I would love to get a book containing screen images from the King of Kumari Kandam since there is one picture I really want in particular.
Ah, would that I could afford to buy merchandise... well maybe I will sometime. Just one of the sad things about being an adult who likes cartoons... kids are the ones with all the disposable cash these days. Oh well.
Meanwhile, about "Curse of the Stolen Tiger," nice to see Wadi again, and Fuzen, too. Hmmm... since Wadi was first introduced, I saw her as a potential love interest for Zak, and while I'm happy to see that officially established as a possibility, I also hate everyone around him talking about it like that... not that they were teasing him, per se, but it would be impossible for them to not realize it would be embarrassing, and I'm sure they don't care. I'll never understand why people find it funny to make people uncomfortable... Okay, it's a little funny, but mostly mean, even when people don't... mean to be mean. But maybe that's just because I'm uncomfortable around all human beings to begin with, and really can't bear any unnecessarily added discomfort. But enough psychoanalyzing of myself... Anyway, I'm glad Zak was proven right about his bad luck. But of course that doesn't mean there couldn't be a little truth in the idea of his being interested in Wadi, even if he's not yet actually conscious of it.
Something I've been wondering recently, is what exactly makes a cryptid a cryptid? The simple answer is any animal whose existence isn't currently accepted by the mainstream scientific community... but I think the show has established there are creatures that fit that description which are in fact NOT cryptids. Which makes me wonder if there are any creatures that science has recognized for a long time, which might turn out to be cryptids, which the Saturdays or other cryptozoologists might not have even thought to consider, just because they're taken for granted? Anyway, there must be some deeper factor that makes a cryptid a cryptid. It'd be interesting to see Drew and Doc argue about that, something mystical vs. something in the DNA? It'd also be interesting to see Zak's power suddenly and unexpectedly work on a fairly common animal, which might spark the debate.
(Shameless plug, which I won't mind at all if it gets removed: Just made a Secret Saturdays wallpaper into a banner for the animation forum of my message board, Volcano Mountain. http://volcanomt.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=anime )
I saw some Secret Saturdays comics on e-bay. I love the Van Rook cover of Cartoon Action Pack #30.
